Brussel Sprouts and Cancer Prevention
A new study on mice has confirmed the benefits of broccoli and Brussels sprouts in cancer prevention. These two powerful cruciferous vegetables contain a substance, indole-3-carbinol (I3C), which would oppose the proliferation of cancer cells. The research was conducted by researchers at the University of Columbus who show, in fact, that I3C is able to destroy an absolutely essential molecule in the division and proliferation of cancer cells, the Cdc25A phosphatase.
Brussel Sprouts and Prostate Cancer
A small study in the Netherlands showed that people who had absorbed every day for a week more than 250 grams of Brussels sprouts, the equivalent of 14 sprouts per day, had 23 % more protective enzymes against cancer, than people who never ate this vegetable.
