The overall 5-year relative survival rate for 1999-2005 was 84.7%; however, the rate varies with age and sex. According to the National Cancer Institute, five-year relative survival rates by race and sex for 1999-2005 were approximately:
- 83.6% for white men
- 86.7% for white women
- 77.3% for black men
- 87.4% for black women.
