Alternative Cancer Treatment with Marijuana (Cannabis)

October 12, 2014 – Marijuana as an alternative Cancer Treatment is growing in popularity day by day. More and more studies have conducted on medical marijuana in recent years which prove its effectiveness in treating the vast majority of cancers and many other medical conditions.  At least 68 recentstudies around the world have proven the efficacy of cannabis against most fetalcancers: prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, and a bunch of others. Not only it is now recognized the cannabis plant can help naturally relieve the symptoms of cancer but as well as side effects caused by conventional cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgical therapy): pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, mood disorder, sleep disorder, skin problems, weakened immune system, to name a few. Eliminating these anomalies is very important during the treatment the fact the quality of life of the patient plays an important role in the healing process.

Cannabinoids, naturally occurring compounds found in medical marijuana (or cannabis), produce the same curative  mechanisms as chemotherapy; the only difference is the fact cannabis causes no damaging side effects; therefore, cancers that respond well to current treatments should also respond well to these components of cannabis. Like systematic chemo, cannabis affects the entire body, but in a positive way. In addition, it is shown in many studies that by treating the tumor, Cannabinoids also treat other conditions of the body, and produce anti-aging effects in the cells, primarily in the brain.

A new study on the efficacy of medicinal cannabis has just been completed in Holland, Published July 9, 2014,using a questionnaire distributed to a group of 102 patients using cannabis buds, pharmaceutical grade, the results are amazing.  Each individual in the study had an average age of 53 years, and 76% of participants used cannabis for over a year.  In this group of patients, 86% reported that medical cannabis was still effective. Some subjective effects, such as mood disorder, depression, anxiety, or increased appetite, could range from a strain of cannabis to another, depending on their level of THC and CBD, the two main cannabinoids found in the plant. (Source: NCBI)

Furthermore, another study of 113 cancer patients in Israel, published by the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, inwith each participant had an average age of 60, shows that 70% of them reported a decrease in pain and improved well-being while taking medical marijuana. 60% of them have also noted an increase in appetite, and 50% saw a reduction in nausea caused by chemotherapy. The side effects observed were mild, mainly in respect of fatigue, or dizziness. The scientists concluded that “Cannabis use is perceived as highly effective by some patients with advanced cancer and its administration can be regulated, even by local authorities.”

In another study conducted on one hundred patients from the island of Hawaii, shows that cannabis is completely safe and it is an effective drug for many patients with chronic pain, lack of appetite, nausea and vomiting. The researchers conclude that in contrast to the opioid painkillers and other conventional treatments available, cannabis is relatively non-addictive and has the highest level of security of all known drugs. Comparably to 1000’s of people killed every year by prescription medications, no deaths attributed to overdose or a direct effect of taking cannabis.

September 2014, the advance of medical cannabis is making news in England, Germany, and Italy. The Drugs Minister, Norman Baker, called for the legalization of medical cannabis: Norman Baker of the Liberal Democratic Party, Minister of State in the Department of Drugs British Home Office, by letter to Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for Health, asked to legalize medicinal cannabis.

Mr. Baker said: “I think it is time to reconsider the medicinal properties of cannabis, from what I have seen as a minister. I see more and more evidence that cannabis can bring real health benefits in the treatment of many diseases. Researchers are increasingly likely to show the therapeutic properties of the chemical components of cannabis. I feel bad about all the people I’ve met who tell me that marijuana is the only substance that helps them improve their medical condition, and to whom not only access to marijuana is not easy but must break the law in order to heal. Other countries recognize the medicinal properties of marijuana, and we must also look at this more closely to help these sick people.”

Medical Marijuana (Cannabis) in the News

In November 2013, the CNN medical expert, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, publically regrets having opposed to the medical marijuana in his recent coverage named Cannabis Madness.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, chief medical correspondent for CNN, has published an article in August 1014 to explain the reasons for his change of mind about the medicinal cannabis, and excuse to not have his eyes opened faster. Having long been opposed to medical marijuana, Dr. Gupta has finally reached this point after extensive research on the subject, exploring the scientific and medical literature since 1840 to the present, and traveling around the world to discuss with medical experts, growers and patients. He was totally stunned by what he discovered!

Using the Rick Simpsons method, 60 grams of high grade cannabis oil is sufficient to treat many so-called incurable diseases such as cancer. However, Preparing the Rick’s method requires precautions. Patients, who can legally prepare the oil, are advised to fully research the process before getting involved in the preparation. Another current method consists of using vegetable glycerin to make a tincture.  YouTube provides some great videos on different methods of preparation.
